Saudi Arabia’s culinary landscape reached a significant milestone on June 2 with the launch of the inaugural Gault&Millau Saudi Arabia Guide, unveiled during a prestigious gala held at Radisson Manhal in Riyadh.
Organized in collaboration with the Saudi Culinary Arts Commission under the Ministry of Culture and supported by Hospitality Services Middle East (HSME), the event gathered leading chefs, restaurateurs, hospitality professionals, diplomats, media representatives and influencers to celebrate the Kingdom’s growing gastronomic excellence.
A highlight of the evening was the official presentation of the first Gault&Millau Saudi Arabia Guide, featuring nearly 250 carefully selected restaurants across Riyadh, Jeddah, AlUla, Abha and Dammam. The guide aims to showcase the diversity, creativity and authenticity of Saudi Arabia’s dining scene while establishing a new benchmark for culinary quality in the Kingdom.
Each selected restaurant received an official Gault&Millau plaque in recognition of its contribution to Saudi Arabia’s dynamic food and beverage sector. The guide also highlights regional culinary traditions, hidden gems and the growing influence of women restaurateurs and chefs whose leadership continues to elevate the industry.
One of the evening’s most anticipated moments was the announcement of the inaugural award winners. These professionals are helping shape the future of Saudi Arabia’s gastronomy scene through talent, innovation, and leadership.
Chef Wed Saleh was awarded the prestigious Chef of the Year title. The recognition honored her outstanding culinary vision and contribution to Saudi Arabia’s contemporary dining scene.
Her creative approach and commitment to excellence have established her as one of the Kingdom’s most influential culinary figures.
The award for Pastry Chef of the Year went to Hachem Taleb. He was celebrated for his refined pastry craftsmanship, creativity, and technical precision. His work continues to elevate dessert experiences within the region.
Sara Katanani received the General Manager of the Year award. The honor recognized her exceptional leadership, operational excellence, and dedication to delivering world-class hospitality experiences.
Elia Kaadi earned the title of Emerging Chef of the Year. He is recognized as one of the industry’s brightest rising stars.
