RAY ALBERT SAAD
Tell us about your culinary journey.
My culinary journey started when I was around 15 years old. I spent a lot of time in the kitchen with my mom when I was a kid. At first, my parents weren’t too happy about it because my grades weren’t great, so there was always this dilemma at home: should I stay in the kitchen or focus on studying?
But I knew what I wanted to do with my life, I wanted to cook. I really loved it.
So I went to a cooking camp in Switzerland. I had saved up money from summer jobs, around $2,000, and spent it all on a 10-day camp there. My parents thought I was crazy for spending all my savings like that, but when I came back with six knives, they realized I was serious. After that, I continued culinary school and kept pursuing cooking professionally. I invested my time in observing and learning from them, and thankfully, since 2023, I have started building my own school of thought in menu creation.
