In the ever-evolving world of weddings, few voices capture the spirit of modern romance quite like Yara Estephan. Known for her refined eye and deeply personal approach to event design, Yara transforms celebrations into immersive experiences that reflect the couple’s story in every detail. From warm, textured palettes to sensory-driven concepts, her work blends creativity with authenticity. In this exclusive interview, Yara shares her insights on this year’s most captivating trends, her predictions for what’s next, and her timeless advice for couples planning their big day.
1. What were the top wedding trends this year?
This year was all about creating experiences that felt personal and intentional. Couples wanted their guests to truly feel something, whether through design, music, food, or even scent. There was a clear shift toward immersive celebrations rather than just beautiful setups.
Visually, it was the year of texture and warmth. Earthy tones like mocha and beige dominated, paired with plenty of candles and soft lighting to create intimacy and elegance. Florals felt more natural and organic, while lighting became the new statement piece.
Couples moved away from following trends for the sake of it. Every element had meaning, an espresso martini bar because it’s their favorite drink, or a tattoo booth as a reflection of their personality. Every wedding felt more authentic, more about who they are as a couple.
2. What wedding trends do you expect to see next year?
Next year, we’ll see weddings become even more experiential and personal.
On the creative side, I expect more interactive and sensory concepts, custom scent bars, live art, elevated cocktail experiences, and even subtle theatrical elements that make guests part of the story.
In terms of colors, I think buttery yellows, soft apricot, and dusty blue will become more prominent.
3. How do you incorporate current trends while keeping a wedding timeless?
It’s all about balance. Trends should inspire, not overpower. I like to incorporate them subtly, through textures, lighting, or small design details, while keeping the overall look elegant and cohesive. When every element has intention behind it, the wedding feels timeless no matter the year.
4. What advice would you give to couples planning to get married next year?
My biggest advice is to enjoy the process. Don’t let it become stressful, this time should be exciting and meaningful. Choose the right people to work with, people you trust, so you can actually enjoy the moments instead of worrying about the details.
Focus on what truly matters: the feeling, the love, the experience. When you approach it with no stress, everything naturally comes together.
