From her beginnings as a self-taught cook to winning the title of Top Chef in 2020, Sama Jadd has built a career driven by passion, perseverance, and creativity. Today, she is the founder of her own restaurant and the creator of SamaCollection, a platform inspired by her world of food and craftsmanship.
In this interview, Sama shares her culinary philosophy, her current projects, and her ambition to bring Saudi flavors to a wider international audience.
Tell us a bit about your professional career
My journey into professional cooking began in 2018. I learned independently through courses, books, and YouTube videos. It was a challenging phase, but it allowed me to build a strong foundation and gain valuable knowledge.
In 2020, I won the title of Top Chef, which marked a turning point in my career. Shortly after, I opened my own restaurant, my first entrepreneurial venture. While the experience was not easy, it was deeply enriching and filled with challenges that helped shape both my professional and personal growth. Although the restaurant eventually closed for several reasons, the lessons I gained from this journey were invaluable.
What is your philosophy or motto?
My philosophy in cooking has always been to create food that is simple, delicious, and accessible. I believe in flavors that reach people’s hearts with love, explode in the mouth, and spark creativity in the mind.
What is your dream in life?
My dream is to be a successful mother and businesswoman, while serving my country professionally by introducing Saudi flavors to the world in an innovative and distinctive way.
What are your current projects and plans?
I am currently focused on developing my restaurant projects and SamaCollection, my established platform. Through SamaCollection, I express my passion for food and craftsmanship by designing chef jackets and cooking aprons that highlight Saudi creativity, with worldwide delivery.
