From a curiosity for flavors to a career shaped by instinct and passion, Chef Sarah-Joe Geara has built her path one dish at a time. After gaining recognition as a finalist on MBC Top Chef, she now leads the kitchen at Maison Dada in Beirut, bringing a simple yet deeply personal approach to her cooking. In this interview, she shares the memories, ingredients, and mindset that define her culinary identity.
1. What inspired you to become a chef, and how does that story shape your cooking today?
I’ve always loved food. I was curious about how it’s made and how flavors work, and cooking became the most natural way for me to express that.
2. What was your favorite dish you created on the show, and why?
I’d say my eggplant dish, inspired by my grandmother’s recipe. It was very simple but deeply personal. It reminded me of home, and those are always the dishes that feel the most special.
3. What are three ingredients you always keep in your kitchen?
Fresh herbs, charcoal, and smoked paprika.
4. What is your philosophy or personal motto?
Keep it simple and tasty. At the end of the day, if it tastes good, that’s what matters most.
5. What is your dream in life?
To keep doing what I love, grow as a chef, and work on projects that feel exciting and true to me.
6. What are your current projects and plans?
Right now, I’m working at Maison Dada, which I’m really enjoying. At the same time, I’m open to new collaborations and projects, taking things step by step.
